Lubrication system for wheel flanges СПП 12-5
Principle of
operation
Lubrication
system СПП 12-5 is a system
with electric and pneumatic control for periodic
lubrication of locomotive wheel flanges. The supply
of the lubricant is a function of the operation time
and depends on the speed. The lubrication is made
with water- and cold-resistant grease, which is
applied on the wheel flanges by compressed air.
From the flanges, the grease is transferred to rail
side surfaces, and from there – on the wheel
flanges of the following wheel sets.
The operation
cycles are performed periodically as a function of
time. At a prescribed moment, the electric impulse
from the electronic control unit opens the electro-
pneumatic valve. The compressed air from the
feeding pipeline goes to the pneumatic drive of the
pump and to the nozzles. The pump operates and
supplies grease to the dosing units of the nozzles,
and the compressed air which at the same time
goes to the mixing chamber of the nozzles swirls the
grease and sprays it on the wheel flanges. The
operating cycle ends by switching-off the electro-
pneumatic valve and returning the pneumatic drive
of the pump to the initial state. After completion of
each operation cycle the pump takes grease from
the grease tank, and the dosing units of the nozzles
prepare the dose for the next operation cycle.
Usually only the
flanges of the wheel set which is the first in the
direction of movement are lubricated. To perform
the lubrication, the electronic control unit switches-
on the electro-pneumatic valve, which operates the
pump, which supplies grease to the nozzles of the
first wheel set in the direction of movement.
